La Fonteta as an extra lung in a direct duel for the acb Top-4 vs. UCAM Murcia

Valencia Basket men’s team closes its last triple-game week with its third clash in five days (Sunday 24, 17:00h, Fonteta, Movistar Deportes 4) in a Liga Endesa round 26 game.

 

The Taronja squad will count on the support of its public to try to overcome the wear and tear of the two tough games played against FC Bayern Munich and on the court of AS Monaco and seek the win in a direct duel in the fight to try to reach the top-4 positions in the ACB Playoff.

 

A local win would allow Valencia Basket not only to match its rival from Sunday in the standings but also give it a 2-0 advantage in the tie-breaker (orange triumph in overtime in the first leg by 77-85), while a defeat would open a two games gap behind the Murcia team.

 

Although the general precedents are favorable to Valencia Basket, the university team has revealed itself as a dangerous rival in Valencia, where it has won in five of its last eleven visits.

 

The problems are concentrated on centers with Brandon Davies and Boubacar Touré sidelined due to injuries, in addition to the fact that one of the three American players will have to stay out of the list to comply with acb regulations.

 

Valencia Basket begins this round in seventh place in the Liga Endesa with a record of 15-10.
